Courtown RNLI lifeboat was launched at 7.25 pm this evening to assist a small yacht with engine failure located about 200 yards offshore. The call was a rapid response following a phone call from a sailor onboard.
The Courtown Lifeboat D-846 with Peter Browne at helm, and accompanied by volunteer crew members, Tom Dalton and Rob Ireton, towed the boat and its crew of three back to harbour safely.
Weather conditions were good but with a light wind.
Lifeboat Operations Manager at Courtown RNLI Station Sam Kennedy, said; “ I’m very proud of the crew for their quick response and how they have adapted and managed social distancing procedures and protocols over the past number of weeks.”
