A FULL RECOUNT BEGAN AT 10am this morning. Outcome of the recount announced just before 7pm. The count is now back on track. There was an error of five votes found in a total poll of 10, 357.
Simon Boyse (Fianna Fail) who called for the recount last night has been eliminated on Count 7 and his 648 votes are now being counted.
Mick Roche (Sinn Fein) has been eliminated on Count 8. Distribution of his 680 votes continuing.
Jack Barden (Independent) has been eliminated. Distribution of his 844 votes continuing.
The remining two seats were filled on the 10th Count at 10pm tonight. Elected were outgoing Cllr Lisa McDonald (Fianna Fáil) and newcomer Aoife Rose O’Brien takes a seat for Sinn Fein in the Rosslare LEA.
On Sunday popular Aontú sitting councillor Cllr Jim Codd topped the poll in Rosslare district followed by Independent Cllr Ger Carthy in the local elections.
Outgoing Cllr Frank Staples (Fine Gael) was elected on the SIXTH COUNT.
